“your stage in Porto”

The doors open, the curtain rises and the show begins . .. This 4-star themed hotel was recently acquired by PortoBay Hotels & Resorts and opened the Group’s doors to a new destination, the beautiful city of Porto.

Romantic entrance

You only have to open the iconic doors of the PortoBay Hotel Teatro to feel that you’ve entered a very special hotel, unlike any other. On the wall there is a poem by the Portuguese romantic poet, Almeida Garrett. The theatrical theme is present in every detail !!

As you cross the hotel lobby, a wide corridor brings you to the place where the Teatro Baquet opened in 1859. To the left, the reception resembles an old box office where "we buy the tickets” to experience the show that is about to begin.

Exclusive bohemian atmosphere

The dimmed lighting, the stage curtains hung at various points around the hotel, the spotlights used as lamps and old theatrical costumes develop the theatrical theme to give a unique, stylish and bohemian atmosphere.

The 74 spacious rooms boast a contemporary and distinctive style. All the hotel's mattresses have been recently replaced, giving that extra feeling of comfort so characteristic of PortoBay hotels. The gold and bronze décor, also a feature of the bathrooms, adds a sophisticated touch.

Comfort cuisine

The Palco restaurant, in the care of Chef Nuno Miguel, welcomes you with comfort food, much appreciated when you’ve been eating out for several days. The flavours and dishes typical of Portuguese cuisine are served here with a contemporary touch. The restaurant has a charming terrace which is full of natural light at breakfast time (with extended hours at the weekend) and exudes a romantic feel at dinner.

A bar with a certain charm . ..

The Plateia Bar is another spot not to be missed. With low, relaxing lighting, this is the perfect place to unwind at the end of the day in comfortable sofas and leather armchairs. At weekends, the sounds of live jazz from pianist André Sarbib fill the venue.

In the heart of the city

The hotel's fantastic location, right in the historical centre of the city, is another highlight. From Rua Sá da Bandeira, you can easily walk to the city’s main attractions. São Bento Station, Clérigos Tower, Porto Cathedral, the Avenida dos Aliados, Lello Bookshop, Bolhão Market and the well-known Cais da Ribeira waterfront next to the Douro . ... are all just a few steps from the hotel.

We’ll be looking forward to your visit !! Enjoy your stay at the PortoBay Hotel Teatro !!
